The Friends of the Grosse Pointe Library is excited to profile its fifth Grosse Pointe book club. This book club started in May 2004 so is approaching their 10 year anniversary. They meet the 3rd Tuesday of the odd months and have never failed to meet in 10 years! In July of 2011, they lost one of their members, Debbie Dubay, to cancer. They now take up a collection every time they meet and in September donate to the Debbie Dubay Memorial Scholarship for a worthy student heading off to college. Debbie was a reading specialist in the Romeo school district so they feel they are honoring her memory with this scholarship.
At their last book club meeting they discussed The Book Thief by Marcus Zusak. The book club has read a variety of books such as Girl with a Pearl Earring, Kite Runner, Devil in the White City, In Cold Blood, A Tree Grows in Brooklyn, To Kill a Mockingbird, Pillars of the Earth, The Glass Castle, The Kitchen House, Gone Girl and The Language of Flowers. They are presently reading Me Before You by JoJo Moyes.
Congratulations to another outstanding Grosse Pointe Book Club. Please be sure to check our website from time to time for upcoming events. http://gplibraryfriends.org/book-clubs.
