The Friends of the Grosse Pointe Library is excited to profile its seventh Grosse Pointe book club– the Joie de Livre. The Joie de Livre was formed by the ladies of the Theatre Arts Club of Detroit, an all-women’s theater group that is 103 years old. They meet only every other month at a member’s home, mostly in the Pointes. Participation in the book club is open to all Theatre Arts members and their guests. They do not read the same book. Instead, they gather and talk about books they’ve read recently, how they liked them or not, and offer to share the book with others when possible. This has given all of them an opportunity to be exposed to books they might not have picked up on our own that turn out to be really interesting.
